The Third Street Light Rail Project is the first part of a two-phase plan to expand the Muni Metro system.

The Third Street Light Rail Line [Bayshore Corridor] which began full service in April 2007, provides rail service along the Third Street Corridor. Service run from the CalTrain Depot to Visitation Valley, revitalizing the Third Street Corridor, improving service reliability, and enhancing transit connections. Phase I includes 5.5 miles of at-grade light rail alignments, 19 passenger stations, 5 power substations, signal and communications systems, and 15 new vehicles.

AGS has provided civil and geotechnical engineering services for the EIR/EIS phase of the project, in anticipation of construction of 1.5-mile central subway and 5.5 miles of at-grade light rail alignments. AGS also performed construction monitoring of the geotechnical engineering aspects of the project.
