As part of the $2.4 billion San Francisco International Airport Expansion, this project involved the design of a system of two-level elevated roads to provide access to the arrival and departure levels of the new International Terminal and the new International Terminal Garage buildings.

Client: San Francisco International Airport
Location: San Mateo County, CA

These multi-story garage structures include stations for the AirTrain Operation System [formerly referred to as Airport Rail Transit System or ART] and short-term parking. The main airport entrance roadways serving the existing terminals were extensively realigned and modified to accommodate the expansion improvements.

As a joint-venture partner, AGS' responsibilities included the computer modeling and analysis of the superstructure, one-half of the total civil engineering including utilities, roadway geometrics, and signing design, and project administration.

In response to an additional work request by SFIA, AGS also prepared plans for implementation of the Airport’s new roadway signing program throughout the Airport.
