The Transbay Transit Center Project is a $4 billion project to replace the current Transbay Terminal with a modern regional transit hub connecting eight Bay Area Counties and the State of California.

Client: Transbay Joint Powers Authority
Location: San Francisco, CA

The San Francisco Transbay Terminal, also known as the Transbay Transit Center, was originally completed in 1939 as the San Francisco terminus for the electric commuter trains which ran on the lower deck of the Bay Bridge until 1958. It currently serves MUNI, Golden Gate Transit, ACTransit, SamTrans, WestCat, and Greyhound Bus Lines.

This underutilized and outdated building will be replaced with a more functional building. The proposed terminal, scheduled to open in 2014, will include a tunnel that extends the Caltrain commuter rail line to the downtown financial district. The rail extension is planned to open in 2019.

AGS, Inc. was tasked to perform geotechnical and environmental studies for the relocation of all underground utilities crossing the project site and for excavation of the new Transbay Terminal site at the location of the existing Transbay Terminal.
