Runway Safety Areas At SFO

As a subconsultant to AECOM, AGS performed various task orders which enabled San Francisco International Airpot (SFO) to comply with Public Law 109-115, which requires airport sponsors to enhance Runway Safety Areas (RSA) according to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airport design standards by the end of 2015. Task orders included:

 

  • Runway Safety Area Design
  • Slope Stability Evluation
  • Storm Drain Pipe Design and Installation
  • Pump Station Design and Coordination
  • Pile Foundation Design for New Structure
  • Geotechnical Construction Monitoring and Testing.

As part of this study, AGS explored and evaluated subsurface conditions and developed conclusions and recommendations for fill construction, long-term settlement mitigation, foundation design, shoring, and large-diameter pipeline design. AGS performed geotechnical study for seismic safety evaluation of the existing perimeter dikes. AGS developed site-specific design criteria and assessed liquefaction hazard. AGS also performed extensive geotechnical observation and testing during construction of various elements of the project.
