As a subconsultant to AECOM, AGS performed various task orders which enabled San Francisco International Airpot (SFO) to comply with Public Law 109-115, which requires airport sponsors to enhance Runway Safety Areas (RSA) according to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airport design standards by the end of 2015. As part of this study, AGS explored and evaluated subsurface conditions and developed conclusions and recommendations for fill construction, long-term settlement mitigation, foundation design, shoring, and large-diameter pipeline design. AGS performed geotechnical study for seismic safety evaluation of the existing perimeter dikes. AGS developed site-specific design criteria and assessed liquefaction hazard. AGS also performed extensive geotechnical observation and testing during construction of various elements of the project.
