Travis Air Force Base

Situated in the San Francisco Bay Area and known as the “Gateway to the Pacific”, TAFB handled more cargo and passenger traffic through its airport than any other military air terminal in the United States.
AGS was tasked to provide geotechnical investigation services which were required for the design of the project. This included pavement cores, soil borings, sampling, laboratory testing, and a final report which the prime consultant used to develop pavement designs and overall airfield design improvements. The design improvements for thirteen taxiways accomplished according to military airfield standards of Unified Facilities Criteria.
AGS was complying with TAFB and Federal Aviation Administration requirements concerning work near active airfield areas, staff clearances required for Base entry, etc., as coordinated with the 60th Air Mobility Wing. The geotechnical work had resulted in a single report that included a site plan with boring/coring locations, boring logs, and laboratory test results.
