The Phase II environmental site assessment for the Yerba Buena Island Ramps Improvement Project was prepared by AGS. AGS evaluated potential contaminants in soils and groundwater that could be encountered during construction. AGS conducted drilling and soil sampling for chemical analysis, followed by additional sampling to assess lead contamination in the shallow soil (0-2 feet). This thorough environmental investigation ensured safe and sustainable development for this critical infrastructure project.

The Yerba Buena Island I-80 Interchange Project replaced and retrofitted key roads and on- and off-ramps that connect the I-80 (the highway on the Bay Bridge) and Yerba Buena Island. The project featured an innovative design that enhances safety and circulation and has was awarded the Project of the Year Award by the California Transportation Foundation in 2024 as well as an Honor Award in the California 2025 Engineering Excellence Awards competition by the American Council of Engineering Companies.
